Jimmy D'z Powered Snowboard Company was founded by Jim Decker. Jim had an idea to build a powered snowboard while living in the mid-west where the terrain is very flat.

He designed a unique "patented" way to attatch a power-train to the back of a snowboard and began to experiment. After making modifications to improve performance, Jim perfected a unique mechanical carving system, using weights, springs and flexible connections to achieve stability. Carving snow in an open space using body weight-shift, to control the ride was his goal, and he acheived that goal with great success.

Jim was designing, and having precision parts made specifically to bring together an engine and a snowboard . Transferring power from the engine to the board was the key to both stability and control. After 3 years of design and many modifications, Jim perfected a unique weight transfer device and began snowboarding and carving in the snowfields of Indiana and Ohio. "I was powerboarding on flat land and I had control of my acceleration using a hand-held control cord, freeing up my body using weight and balance to control and ride the board". The new device worked so good, and was so unique that he was encouraged to get a patent.
Jim submitted an application to the U.S. Government Patent Office, for his motorized snowboard. The patent was approved in the Spring of 2004.
